APLE attended CTA’s Chapter Presidents Legislative Advocacy Day

Sacramento went #RedForEd on May 22 for CTA’s Day of Action. Dion Taylor and Jeremy Kelly joined thousands of educators, parents, students, and supporters as they marched in the streets, filled the State Capitol and rallied in support of public education.

2019 We Honor Ours (WHO) Awards

OSCC honors and thanks leaders who make a difference for students and instructors.

OSCC could not be the successful organization it is without the leadership of hundreds of local members who work tirelessly at the bargaining table, reaching out to members, providing guidance on grievances, campaigning for education-friendly trustees, and in general strengthening their chapters. These local education and union activists were honored at the Spring OSCC  WHO Awards Dinner in Costa Mesa.

Declaration of Candidacy for APLE Executive Board Positions

Election of (2) Two Elementary Directors, (1) One Middle School Director, (1) High School Director and Director-at-Large will be held open from Tuesday, May 14th through to Wednesday, May 29th.

If you are interested in running for one of these APLE offices, please click here for the  Declaration of Candidacy Form and return to the APLE office by Friday, May 10th, at 5:00 P.M.

You can Represent CTA at NEA’s Convention

For the Declaration of Candidacy form for state delegates to the 2019 NEA convention in Houston, Texas, and for more information click here.

It is the responsibility of each member wishing to run for state delegate to fill out a Declaration of Candidacy form and file it by the deadline, no later than 5 pm on January 31st, 2019. Service Center Councils will begin accepting state delegate Declaration of Candidacy forms on Jan. 3, 2019. Each candidate filing a declaration form will receive an acknowledgment of receipt.

Rep Council Attends Fall Leadership Conference

APLE Rep Council members attended the Orange Service Center Council Fall Leadership Conference 2018.

Attending this conference was a great way to gather information and tools so that we can continue to be a source of knowledge to and strengthen our membership.  Topics included:
  • Bargaining Post-Janus
  • Membership engagement using social media
  • Legislative updates
  • Organizing strong school sites
  • Essential skills for Site Representatives
  • Membership recruitment and engagement
  • Treasurer’s training
  • Technology to assist with membership
To round out the day, we ended with a lovely dinner at Moreno’s in Orange.
