CTA Disaster Relief Fund

We are deeply moved by the compassion and concern shown for our CTA members affected by the devastating LA fires.
The most impactful way to support our efforts is through monetary donations. These contributions enable us to provide direct assistance to members in urgent need. Some have asked if we are able to accept care packages. While we appreciate this gesture, we unfortunately do not have the capacity to manage and distribute effectively. Monetary donations allow us to act quickly and address the immediate needs of those affected.
Over the years, the DRF has provided millions in disaster relief grants to CTA members. Your contributions are vital to continuing this legacy of care. Donations to the DRF are tax-deductible and ensure we can respond swiftly and effectively to this unprecedented crisis.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion.

If you have any questions, CTA Member Benefits is ready to help and can be reached at (650) 552-5200 or memberbenefits@cta.org.

Congratulations Mary!

Mary & Jon – Tynes’ Music Teachers.

Our APLE member Mary Stuckmeier, at Tynes Elementary, received California Casualty’s $250.00 Music Arts Grant, which is awarded each year.

California Casualty understands the value of creative programs in education, and the challenge of securing funding for such endeavors. A Music and Arts Grant from California Casualty will help students access choir, band, dance, film, theater, computer arts and graphics or any K-12 curriculum that employs art for learning – virtually or in-person.

“The importance of the arts can’t be overstated,” said California Casualty AVP Brian Goodman. “It is a sincere honor to support our educators in providing more creative opportunities for students.”

California Casualty wants to make sure as many students as possible get a chance to have a classroom art project, learn music, act in a school play, or hone their artistic talents, by providing $250 for under-funded programs.

California Casualty’s Music and Arts Grant program receives applications year-round. To be considered for the award, educators at public K-12 schools can apply for a $250 Music and Arts Grant at www.calcasmusicartsgrant.com. Applicants must be a current member of the state NEA affiliate or one of the other participating educator associations.

Coast to Coast Foundations Special Event

Elks Lodge
Scholarship Dinner

Thursday evening, at the Fullerton Elks Lodge, forty-five PYLUSD students and their families were treated to a lovely evening, with dinner and mariachi players. Students in attendance were all winners of the Coast to Coast of Fullerton, scholarship competition. Students in the PYLUSD McKinney Vento program, a program that assists students who qualify due to their housing situation, were asked to write a letter as to how and why they could use a $500 scholarship from Coast to Coast and the financial benefactor, Ryan D. The purpose of the scholarships is to assist students financially to be successful in school. Scholarships also included several laptops and money for a refrigerator for one particular lucky family.

Entertainment was provided by PYLUSD’s very own student mariachi band called Los Mariachis Morales, Diego, Ashley and Miguel Morales of Valadez Middle School and VHS. Jon Matson, PYLUSD’s McKinney Vento Homeless Liaison, said about the evening’s event, “We are honored to continue our partnership with Marie Avena from Coast to Coast of Fullerton. They have been so generous to our most vulnerable students. Having a generous donation from Ryan, the evening’s benefactor, made the event possible, and we are so grateful to both Ryan and Marie. All of those in attendance were thrilled about their scholarships.”

The next round of generous scholarships will be distributed at a similar event in May of this year.
